Detectives arrived [Monday] at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center with double murder suspect Megan Hargan, who was extradited from West Virginia. Hargan, 35, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning for the murder of her sister and mother.
Helen Lorena Hargan, 23, and her mother, Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan, 63, were found dead on July 14 in a home in the 6700 block of Dean Drive in McLean. They had both been shot. Fairfax County detectives arrested Megan Hargan near her home in Monongalia County, West Virginia, earlier this week.
The bodies were discovered by officers after a 9-1-1 call reporting someone in the home might have been killed. Detectives determined early in the investigation that the scene was staged to appear to be a murder-suicide.

The day is here — the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, one of the busiest car travel days of the year.
More on just how bad traffic will be from AAA Mid-Atlantic:
Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. is virtually “Zero Hour” if you are traveling clockwise on the Capital Beltway when traffic speeds will be down to about 7 miles per hour (mph), as you crawl toward your Thanksgiving destination, according to projections by INRIX, in collaboration with AAA. Tuesday, the eve of Thanksgiving Eve, is also the absolute worst time to be caught on the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway, especially during the evening rush hour at 6:15 p.m. Here, travel delays will increase nearly 100 percent and travel speeds will drop to 23 miles per hour, as holiday travelers and commuters co-mingle and converge at one of the biggest bottlenecks in the Washington metro area.
Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday November 21, is the worst day and time to travel for holiday travelers taking Interstate 95 North, Interstate 270 North, and U.S. 50 East, according to data from INRIX. There are 15 freeway segments to eschew. Knowing when and where congestion will build can help drivers avoid the stress of sitting in traffic. Then there are the hotspots to circumvent and circumnavigate during the getaway period. […]
“With 1.2 million Washington area residents hitting the highways for the holiday, travel delays will become a contagion on area freeways and highways on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving Eve, as virtually everyone experiences a significant increase in travel times and traffic congestion,” said John B. Townsend II, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Manager of Public and Government Affairs. “Holiday traffic, and any poor soul caught up in it, will creep, crawl and slither along. Given this, holiday travelers will be forced to add ‘extra buffer time’ to their trips to reach their Thanksgiving destinations on time.”
That brings us to our poll question: we’re wondering if Tysons Reporter readers will be heading out of town for holiday, despite the big traffic rush, or staying here. Also, while we’re at it, what about Christmas travel?
Regardless of whether you’re driving, flying or otherwise, let us know if you’re heading out of town for the holidays.

A Great Falls man has been arrested and charged in yesterday’s robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank near the Old Brogue Irish Pub.
Police throughout Fairfax County were told to be on the lookout for the suspect after he demanded and received money from a teller and then demanded the keys to her SUV. Police officers, sheriff’s deputies, detectives, SWAT team members and two police helicopters helped in the search for the suspect, who was later arrested and identified as 60-year-old Christopher Lapp.
More from Fairfax County Police:
BANK ROBBERY: 750 Walker Road (Wells Fargo Bank), 11/13/18, 11:39a.m. A man entered the bank carrying a handgun and handed the teller a note and a bag, demanding money. A trio of young men from Falls Church were arrested in Tysons Sunday after allegedly leading police on a foot chase.
Fairfax County Police say the men stole items from the Macy’s department store at Tysons Corner Center mall by first stacking the merchandise by the door and then, after gathering enough stuff, running off with it. But security guards noticed the scheme in progress and called police, and officers arrived just as the men were trying to make their getaway with the stolen goods, according to FCPD.
After a foot pursuit, all three were arrested, police said. They’re being charged with grand larceny.
More from a crime report:
1961 Chain Bridge Rd (Macys), 11/11/18, 4:12 p.m. Officers were notified by Macy’s loss prevention of three men putting merchandise by the door to steal. Officers arrived at the store as the men were running out with the stolen merchandise. They were caught within minutes after a short foot pursuit. Derlin Carcamo Alvarez, 21, Jorge Melendez Gonzalez, 20, and Wilson Mondrago Ochoa, 23, all of Falls Church, were charged with Grand Larceny.
