Tuesday (Sept. 17)
- Brewery and Buzz Oktoberfest — 5 p.m. at Barrel & Bushel (7901 Tysons One Place) — Attendees have the opportunity to try Old Ox Brewery and Ardent Craft Ales and also win prizes.
- Garden Wisdom — 7:30 p.m. at Vienna Town Hall (127 S. Center Street) — Representatives from Plant NoVA Native and the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District will teach attendees how to rethink their gardens. This event is free.
Wednesday (Sept. 18)
- Entrepreneur Express — 9 a.m.-noon at City of Falls Church Economic Development Authority City Hall (300 Park Avenue) — This free event invites upcoming business owners on how to receive free advice on how to be successful in their ventures and stay ahead of challenges.
Friday (Sept. 20)
- Murder and Marinara — 7-10 p.m. at Maggiano’s Tysons Corner (2001 International Drive) — This event will offer attendees a full three-course meal with bar specials and a night of mystery twists. Tickets are $75.
Saturday (Sept. 21)
- Oktoberfest Kickoff at Tysons Biergarten — 3-7 p.m. at Tysons Biergarten (8346 Leesburg Pike) — This event celebrates the new season with a ceremonial Weihenstephaner keg sent from Germany. $10 entry includes several tastings.
- Zumba — Beyonce Get Me Bodied — 8-8:45 a.m. at Hilton McLean Tysons Corner Atrium (7920 Jones Branch Drive) — This event allows attendees to dance their heart out while exercising alongside Beyonce-loving friends.
Sunday (Sept. 22)
- Broadway Princess Party — 3 p.m. at the McLean Community Center (1234 Ingleside Avenue) — This musical experience invites attendees to experience stories of Disney princesses acted out on stage. Tickets range from $35-$85.
Mackage, a Canadian brand known for its jackets, coats and leather goods, is set to open a store in Tysons Galleria.
The mall lists the designer outerwear brand as “coming soon” and a building permit indicates that work is underway on the new store.
This will be the first Mackage store to open in the D.C. area. Currently, Mackage has three stores in the U.S. — one in New Jersey and two in New York City.
Mackage aims to “elevate outerwear with a unique balance between fashion and function,” according to the company’s website.

Fairfax County police arrested two D.C. men in a parking garage near Tysons Corner Center for alleged larceny on Labor Day (Monday).
While police were investigating several car break-ins in a parking garage in the 1900 block of Chain Bridge Road, they said they saw a man crouched behind a car.
“He was arrested and officers then found another man sitting in a white van that contained stolen property from the earlier thefts,” according to the police report.
The two men were charged with seven counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, destruction of property, possession of burglarious tools and possession of stolen property. They were held without bond.
Last Saturday (Aug. 31), police arrested a 24-year-old Fairfax man in connection with a stolen auto from the Tysons Galleria parking garage.
“Officers used garage surveillance footage to locate the suspect in the mall,” police said.
Police arrested and charged the man with auto theft, possession of burglarious tools, possession of forged banknotes, possession of marijuana and displaying altered/fictitious registration. He was held without bond.

The Ice Cream Jubilee pop-up in Tysons Galleria is now closed.
The location closed its doors during the last week of July after serving customers since December 2018, according to Jenna Hahn, the vice president of operations for Ice Cream Jubilee.
“While we very much enjoyed getting to know the people of the area, we decided to focus on our permanent locations,” Hahn said.
Matthew Woods, the assistant manager of Jubilee’s Ballston spot, said the Tysons location was not meeting its sales goals.
“The foot traffic didn’t pick up during the summer as we expected it to,” Woods said, adding that sales were unusually low especially for the hot summer months.
Unlike the Tysons location, Ice Cream Jubilee in Ballston seems to be very popular according to Woods. He added that they still have a steady flow of customers despite the start of the new school year.
Brandywine Realty Trust is looking to upgrade office space by Tysons Galleria.
The real estate firm announced on Twitter yesterday (Wednesday) that it’s renovating its space at 1676 International Drive #1350.
“We’re elevating 1676 International with a Penthouse full of amenities,” the tweet said.
The new space will include a lounge, 120-person conference center, living room, fitness center and open-air conservatory.
The building houses companies including BAE Systems, KPMG and the consulting firm Savon Group.

The company behind A Taste of Urbanspace in Tysons Galleria is facing a lawsuit for allegedly stealing a retail brokerage firm’s “intellectual capital.”
District Equities filed a lawsuit Monday alleging that Urbanspace Tysons LLC, “entered into an agreement with District Equities to help find retail vendors for the food hall, utilized the brokerage firm’s proprietary market knowledge and business relationships, and then terminated the agreement,” Bisnow reported.
District Equities was started by Great Falls resident Steve Gaudio in 2015.
The two companies worked together from the fall until Urbanspace terminated District Equities’ agreement, activating the noncompete clause that said District Equities cannot work on another food hall for two years, the article said.
District Equities “says the damages would be at least $75,000, a threshold that gives it jurisdiction in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia,” according to the Bisnow article.
Urbanspace Tysons LLC opened A Taste of Urbanspace in December, replacing celebrity chef Mike Isabella’s series of restaurants known as Isabella Eatery.
Recently, A Taste of Urbanspace has seen some changes.
Danielle’s Desserts closed for good at the mall earlier this month after its owner told Tysons Reporter that she wants to focus more on her health and family.
Meanwhile, Eater reported that Ice Cream Jubilee seems to have disappeared from the Tysons spot and is no longer listing it as one of its locations.
Lady M Cake Boutique is moving from its pop-up in A Taste of Urbanspace to a permanent spot on the second level of the mall.
After almost 10 years of sweet service, the founder of Danielle’s Desserts has decided to close the bakery so that she can focus on her family and health.
Founded in 2010 by Danielle Poux, the bakery will serve up Southern-style desserts in Tysons Galleria until next Friday, Aug. 16.
“The business, as much as I’ve enjoyed it, has taken a physical toll on me,” Poux said.
Now that she is almost 60 years old, she said spending 14 hours each day on her feet isn’t healthy for her anymore.
After meeting with a few of her managers a couple of months ago, they decided that a closing date would allow current employees enough time to arrange other career opportunities while also adequately wrapping everything up on the business end.
When Danielle’s Desserts announced that it was going to close, Poux said that the shop received hundreds of phone calls from customers expressing their dismay.
Looking back over the last nine years, Poux said that she took requests from customers and made adjustments to her menu based on feedback.
Poux recalled when she received several requests from a man who wanted a basic yellow cake with chocolate frosting — an option she hadn’t thought to offer at first because she thought it might be boring. When she gave the cake a trial period, she said it “flew out of the shop” and became a bestseller.
“I think the important thing that I’ve learned, it has come to my attention, that we have had an impact on people,” Poux said. “It’s like being a part of their important family events — and that’s an honor to me.”

- Meet E.A. Dustin — 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble (2921 District Avenue Suite 180) — This local author will discuss her book and signing copies of “Save Me Twice” about WWll.
Saturday (Aug. 10)
- Stop the Bleed Workshop — 1:30-4 p.m. at Patrick Henry Library (101 E. Maple Avenue) — CERT and FEMA will teach attendees how to stop bleeding in case of an emergency and save a life if necessary. This is open to everyone 16 years of age and above.
- Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band — 8 p.m. at Wolf Trap at the Filene Center (1551 Trap Road) — This live musical event will feature musicians who have played alongside Ringo Starr. Tickets start at $45.
- 29th Anniversary Block Party — 1-4 p.m. in McLean (1440 Chain Bridge Road) — The McLean Community Center will host a celebration for the 29th anniversary of the old firehouse. This free event offers free admission and there will be live music, games, food and activities for all ages.
Sunday (Aug. 11)
- Tysons Farmers Market — 9 a.m. at The Plaza at Tysons Corner Center — Every week, local businesses gather to share their goods with the community. Entry is free, and activities for kids will be available.
- Live Music with Eli Lev — noon-3 p.m. at Caboose Commons (2918 Eskridge Road) — Folk singer and songwriter Eli Lev will perform live for the audience. This free performance will likely include music from his upcoming album.

Beer lovers have not one but two events this week on Thursday and Friday that they can celebrate around Tysons.
Tomorrow is National IPA Day, a which falls annually on the first Thursday in August, to celebrate the beer known as India Pale Ale Beer. International Beer Day, which falls on Friday, Aug. 2, toasts the craft of brewing.
National IPA Day (Aug. 1)
- National IPA Day at Urbanspace (2001 International Drive, third floor): People at Andy’s Pizza can taste five local and out-of-market IPA’s and pair them with pizza in Tysons Galleria.
- National IPA Day at Caboose Brewing Company (Merrifield or Vienna): The brewery will have the “fan favorite” Fog IPA available in six-packs at Caboose Commons in Merrifield (2918 Eskridge Road) and Caboose Tavern in Vienna (520 Mill Street NE).
International Beer Day (Aug. 2)
- International Beer Day at the Biergarten (8346 Leesburg Pike): Tysons Biergarten will have a “Happy Hour Power Hour” where all of the main floor beer will have happy hour prices from 3-4 p.m.
- International Beer Day at Caboose Brewing Company (Merrifield or Vienna): The brewery plans to celebrate at both Caboose Commons in Merrifield (2918 Eskridge Road) and Caboose Tavern in Vienna (520 Mill Street NE).

Danielle’s Desserts, a bakery in Tysons Galleria, plans to close in August.
An employee for the bakery said that it will close its doors on Friday, Aug. 16, at 1770 International Drive.
Founded by Danielle Poux in 2010, Danielle’s Desserts offers more than 50 flavors of “Southern-style” desserts, including gluten-free options, like cupcakes, cakes, pies, cookies and more.
The bakery is located on the third level near Saks Fifth Avenue and is open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday, according to the mall.
