The last in a trifecta of new eateries from Great American Restaurants plans to open next week.
Randy’s Prime Seafood and Steaks recently announced on Facebook that it will start serving at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday (July 30). The restaurant is currently taking reservations.
The dinner menu features a raw bar, wagyu steaks and a variety of seafood. The restaurant’s decor includes five “special paintings” by Jack Gable from Maine, according to Randy’s website.
The two other restaurants at 8051 Leesburg Pike — Patsy’s American and Best Buns — opened earlier this year.
The restaurants are named after Randy and Patsy Norton, a husband-and-wife restaurant team who were two of the founders of Great American Restaurants in 1976.
It’s not just another workday in the middle of the week — today (Wednesday) is National Tequila Day.
While the origin of National Tequila Day seems to be a mystery, the liquor has been around since the 16th century. A couple of restaurants around the Tysons area are pouring specials and deals today.
The Mexican eatery at 7852L Tysons Corner Center plans to feature its new special — the Pisco Margarita — and customizable tequila flights from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
A local brewery is taking part in the event with Vampiro cocktail and taco specials at its Vienna and Merrifield locations. The celebrations will take place at Caboose Tavern (520 Mill Street NE) from 4-11 p.m. and Caboose Commons (2918 Eskridge Road) from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
The Falls Church (2190 Pimmit Drive) and Vienna (164 W. Maple Avenue) locations will be offering $5 draft margaritas.

“American Idol” finalist Danny Gokey is set to perform a free show at The Plaza outside Tysons Corner Center later this week.
Earlier this summer, the mall hosted a free summer concert series. Now, the series is back with one more show Friday (July 26)at 6:30 p.m.
Gokey, a gospel and Christian singer, recently released a new album called “Haven’t Seen It Yet.”
Attendees can bring chairs, blankets and sunglasses on a first-come, first-served basis for space.

The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a robbery, an attempted robbery and three burglaries that occurred in Tysons and McLean last week.
On Thursday (July 18), a man reported to police that he was walking around the 8300 block of Leesburg Pike around 10 p.m. when a man demanded money from him.
“The suspect took the victim’s money and left the area,” police said. “The suspect is described as black, 5’10, in his late teens and wearing a white tank top.”
The next day (Friday), an attempted robbery occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Pinnacle Drive.

A woman was sitting in her car when a man approached, demanded her property and attempted to open her door. The man did not take anything and left the area. The suspect is described as white, in his 30’s, with a crew cut and wearing a large backpack.
Sometime between Friday and Saturday, two Chinese restaurants in McLean were burglarized, police said.
An employee at House of Fortune (6715 Lowell Avenue) reported to the police that someone entered and took property from inside. Nearby, someone broke a window and took property from inside Wok N Roll (1371 Beverly Road).
On Saturday, someone entered the Caliber Collision (1572 Spring Hill Road) in Tysons overnight and stole several sets of car keys, police said.

A company that provides air traffic surveillance systems is expanding in Tysons, bringing more than 50 new jobs.
Aireon LLC currently leases more than 26,000 square feet at 8484 Westpark Drive, Suite 300 in Tysons.
“The company is moving its headquarters within the Tysons area of the county and will increase the square footage of its office space by nearly 150 percent, accommodating more than 50 new jobs over the next three years,” according to a press release.
Aireon’s job creation will be supported by the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides state-funded services for employee training, the press release said.
“Aireon chose to remain in Fairfax County and expand the headquarters due to its proximity to downtown Washington, D.C., the Federal Aviation Administration and the area’s regional and international airports,” Rich Nyren, the chief financial officer of Aireon, said in the press release.
Nyren added that the county has “world-class public transportation, shops and restaurants and attracts some of the most educated workforce from the abundance of globally recognized local universities.”

Returning in August, Metropolitan Washington Summer Restaurant Week invites the community to once again branch out and try nearby restaurants.
From Aug. 12-18, food lovers can enjoy fixed-price meals at regional restaurants that would otherwise cost significantly more. Prices are $22 for brunch and lunch or $35 for dinner.

Alta Strada (2911 District Avenue)
Originally started in Massachusetts in 2007, Alta Strada specializes in Italian pasta dishes. Since then, they’ve expanded to four restaurants, including their Mosaic location.
Capri Ristorante Italiano (6825K Redmond Drive)
This Italian restaurant in McLean serves homestyle food with a menu featuring a variety of salads, soups, pasta and fresh seafood.
Wildfire (1714U International Drive)
Inside Tysons Galleria, Wildfire Steak House will offer a three-course lunch and dinner menu deal for the restaurant week, which includes a salad, main entree and dessert. Diners can check out their website for menu details and hours.
American Prime (1420 Spring Hill Road)
American Prime serves specialty steaks to customers in the Tysons area — the artisan charcuterie, dry-aged steaks and smoked prime rib are bestsellers, according to the restaurant.

The map of where to find Capital Bikeshare docks around Tysons is starting to get a little more filled out.
There were 11 stations in our first roundup in October. Since then, the numbers have grown.
Currently, cyclists can find 14 stations in Tysons. One of the new additions is near Tysons Galleria (Park Run and Onyx Drive), while two other stations sit at either end of the soon-to-open Jones Branch Connector, connecting the area around Tysons Galleria, like The Mile and Valo Park with Tysons East.
Sidewalks for the Jones Branch Connector are expected to open sometime this summer, while the full bridge is slated to open this fall.
The connector and new bike-share stations are part of an effort to capitalize on the new Capital One headquarters and upcoming commercial and residential development.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors gave The Mile, a proposed mixed-use development in Tysons, their stamp of approval at their meeting Tuesday (July 16).
The massive development aims to transform 38 acres of offices in the North Central neighborhood into 10 mixed-use buildings with residential, retail, office, hotel and storage locations. The project is unique with its six planned parks spanning more than 10 acres.
Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth said that the development’s largest park — a roughly 5-acre park with a large open lawn area, a performance stage, gaming areas, picnic areas, a children’s play area and trails — will fulfill the county’s plan to have a central park in Tysons.

Five buildings are residential along with supporting retail, and another four buildings include options for either residential, office or hotel uses, plus retail. The 10th building is a 5,000-square-foot retail kiosk planned for The Mile’s Signature Park. The approved plans also allow for an option to include 300,000 square feet in mini-warehouse or storage in one of the residential buildings.
The board also approved final development plans for The Mile’s first building — a seven-story apartment building with ground-floor retail on Westbranch Drive near the intersection with Westpark Drive.
Smyth thanked the developers for “coming up with something I think will be a lasting achievement in Tysons.”
