A Mexican restaurant plans to debut in the Vienna area this week.
El Sol plans to open at 262 Cedar Lane SE, Suite C in the Cedar Park Shopping Center on Thursday (Feb. 27), according to a press release.
Restauranteurs Alfredo and Jessica Solis, brother and sister, are behind El Sol, which currently has a D.C. spot, along with Mezcalero and Anafre, which are also in D.C.
Jessica will lead the kitchen, while Alfredo will manage Mezcalero and Anafre, according to the press release.
“We just set out to cook the food we grew up eating and now we have four restaurants. It’s incredible,” Jessica said in the press release.
Diners can expect traditional Mexican foods like street tacos, carne asada, gorditas and other items.
The menu includes a dish where a mixture of cheeses prepared atop the grill in a large plant leaf and another one with a bowl of oysters, shrimp, fish, octopus, avocado and spicy tomato.

The Vienna shop is a family-friendly full-service establishment that also offers weekend brunch, just like the D.C. location. A full bar highlighting mezcal and tequila is also be available.
Unlike El Sol D.C. and the other Solis restaurants, the Vienna restaurant has a private dining space that can accommodate up to 20 guests.
The restaurant plans to open at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Alexandria-based Urbano 116 is planning on opening in the former spot of Brine in the Mosaic District.
Common Plate Hospitality announced in a press release that the restaurant will open this summer and will be the second one for Urbano.
The Mexican restaurant will take over Brine’s old spot at 2985 District Ave, Suite 120.
“Look for an expanded menu and more traditional Tex-Mex items from the kitchen,” the press release said.
The menu is set to include nine taco options with “made to order” tortillas, burritos, taco salads, enchiladas, chimichangas and fajita platters.
Rania’s Love Vegetarian Restaurant is now serving up Vietnamese vegetarian food in Falls Church.
Located near Staples in Falls Plaza (1200 W. Broad Street), a banner outside of the restaurant says that a grand opening was held earlier this month.
The menu includes starters, like salt and pepper oyster mushrooms, and noodle soup, including lemon leaf chicken soup and beef meatball noodle soup.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sundays, according to signage on the door.
Two new Baddpizza locations are expected to open in McLean and Falls Church a little later than expected.
Although the location in Falls Church (346 W. Broad Street) was supposed to open in November, according to the owner, a store manager said yesterday (Feb. 12) that it will instead open in about two weeks.
Meanwhile, the McLean location (6263 Old Dominion Drive), which was set to open in December or early 2020, will open in late March, according to the manager.
Opening dates for both of the locations are dependent on staffing, the manager said.
Both locations plan to serve a variety of pizzas, wings, salads, dessert and chicken tenders, according to the website.

Great Falls-based Our Mom Eugenia will bring its Greek cuisine to the Mosaic District later year.
According to a liquor license permit, the restaurant is set to fill Little Dipper Hot Pot House’s spot at 2985 District Ave, Suite 185.
Our Mom Eugenia is looking to open its new spot in the spring, according to a Facebook post.
The restaurant is named after Eugenia Hobson, who was a chef at Mykonos Grill in Rockville, Athenian Plaka in Bethesda and at Nostos in Tysons, according to the restaurant’s website.
A Yelp review from 2019 says Little Dipper Hot Pot House closed its Mosaic District location, although it’s unclear when or why. The closest one is now in the Falls Church area at 3000 Annandale Road, Suite 102.

An international ramen restaurant plans to open next month in The Boro in Tysons.
Diners can try authentic ramen and other Japenese cuisines at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka (1636 Boro Place) once it opens in March, according to the website.
“The Santouka restaurant will be the first ramen restaurant from Japan to open in Virginia, as well as their first foray into the greater Washington D.C. area,” a press release said, adding that this will mark Santouka’s 61st location around the world.
Menu items will include the restaurant’s tonkotsu soup, gyoza, karaage-style fried chicken and desserts, according to the press release.
“To make our signature tonkotsu broth, we simmer pork bones for about 20 hours over the low heat until it becomes pearly white and then add the vegetables, dried fish, kelp and other savory ingredients to it,” the location’s Facebook page said.
The eatery’s hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sundays, the website said.
Reservations will not be available at this location, according to the website, which added that there are only dine-in options — no takeout.

Fish Taco and North Italia are set to open this week at The Boro in Tysons.
The new Tysons location (1644 Boro Place) will be Fish Taco’s fourth location and first location outside of Maryland.
An employee at the eatery said that Fish Taco plans to hold a soft opening on Thursday (Feb. 6), followed by an official opening on Friday (Feb. 7).
Like the name suggest, Fish Taco serves up seafood rice bowls, tacos, salads, burritos and quesadillas.
Fish Taco’s regular hours will be from 10:30 a.m.-8L30 p.m. on Mondays, 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Meanwhile, the Italian restaurant chain North Italia plans to open Wednesday (Feb. 5) at 1651 Boro Place.
The restaurant’s regular hours will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sundays and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturdays. North Italia will have happy hour from 3-6 p.m. on weekdays.
Aditi Streetside Indian will soon rebrand as Kochin Kitchen in the Town of Vienna.
Located in Danor Plaza (126 Branch Road SE), the eatery will still be under the same ownership, Andrea West, a town spokesperson, said.
While the eatery is currently closed, an employee said that the owners hope to begin serving food again within the next week.
The owners haven’t announced if Kochin Kitchen’s menu will be similar to Aditi Streetside Indian.

A new eatery recently opened in McLean — giving people yet another casual dining option.
The Union serves a variety of Asian-fusion dishes among other fares, according to the location’s website. Options that cater to keto and vegan diets are also served, such as the Ancient Grain Bowl, which can be ordered vegan or vegetarian.
Giridhar Sastry, the owner, was born in India and opened the restaurant after working at The Ritz-Carlton and as a head-chef at other restaurants around D.C., Sastry told Tysons Reporter.
The restaurant opened at 1379 Beverly Road on Sunday (Jan. 26), Sastry said.
The location has both indoor and outdoor seating and can fit up to around 80 patrons at a time, according to Sastry.
The Union is open daily from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., according to the website.

(Updated 1/29/2020) Several new stores and eateries plan to expand the offerings at Tysons Corner Center.
Cotton On, B8TA, Teriyaki Way and China Kitchen will all open within the following months, a mall spokesperson said. (Tysons Reporter previously reported that Cotton On and B8TA plan to open stores in the mall.)
The Australian brand Cotton On, which offers clothing and stationery brands, will be located across from Oakley and Abercrombie & Fitch, the press release said.
Meanwhile, B8TA will be located on level 1 by Kids Foot Locker and Abercrombie Kids, according to the press release, and allow shoppers to “try on the latest and innovative products out of the box from home, technology, to health-related and lifestyle focused items.”
China Kitchen will be located on level three in the food court, and Teriyaki Way will be next to California Pizza Kitchen.
Opening dates have not been announced yet for any of the upcoming locations.
Sunglass Hut, which already has a location in the mall near now-closed Lord and Taylor, will add a second location just a few steps away near Macy’s, according to a sign outside the location.
Renovations will be finished in March, the sign said.
A kiosk with mini doughnuts from Doughnuttery is coming to the mall’s second level near Barnes and Noble, according to the mall’s website.
Along with the upcoming openings, a few stores plan to say goodbye or have already closed.
With all of its stores closing nationwide, a store employee said Papyrus will likely stay open for a few more weeks at the mall.
Tradition d’Afrique has closed in BrandBox on the first level by Barnes and Noble. Brio, an Italian restaurant chain, recently closed its location near BrandBox.
American Tandoor was still closed yesterday (Monday). The Indian restaurant has signs saying it’s “temporarily closed until further notice.”
“The closings of Brio and American Tandoor are for different circumstances and has no correlation to the vitality of Tysons Corner Center,” a spokesperson for Tysons Corner Center told Tysons Reporter on Jan. 29.
