Event technology company Cvent announced today (Thursday) plans to hire nearly 1,000 employees this year as the company continues to grow.
Based in Tysons by the Greensboro Metro station, Cvent offers software to event planners to help with online event registration, venue selection, event management and attendee engagement.
Many of the new jobs will be in the Tysons headquarters, according to the press release. Other locations around the U.S. and in Canada, England, Australia, Germany, Singapore and India also plan on adding new employees.
In addition to the hiring, Cvent also announced that it will open new office space in Austin, Texas and New Delhi, India and expand in Fredericton, Canada.
The expansion follows a busy year for the company. In 2018, Cvent added 1,000 net employees and more than 5,000 new customers, according to a press release. A few months ago, Cvent added 72,000 square feet of office space to its Tysons headquarters (1765 Greensboro Station Place).
“We hired almost 1,000 people last year and we’re doubling down on our recruiting efforts to ensure we can continue supporting our expanding customer base and delivering the innovations that will drive the industry forward,” Sophia MacDonald, the vice president of human resources for Cvent, said in a press release.

One year after Appian Corporation first mentioned plans to relocate from Reston to Tysons, the cloud computing company is nearing its move-in date, which will bring 600 jobs.
Appian will soon trade in its current headquarters at 11955 Democracy Drive, Suite 1700 in Reston Town Center for Gannett’s headquarters at Valo Park (7950 Jones Branch Drive).
Appian’s relocation is set to happen in June, the Washington Business Journal reported last week.
“The 12.5-year lease for 200,000 square feet in the Jones Branch Drive building was officially signed April 17, complete with a press conference with Gov. Ralph Northam. The lease was a win for real estate group Tamares, which purchased the building from Gannett for $270 million in 2015,” according to the story.
Back in December, the company received $4 million from Fairfax County for the company’s expansion and new headquarters. The funds will pay for the leasing, improvements, equipment and operation of the new North Central home.

The employee said the store is looking for people to fill a variety of vacancies, from sales to technicians, and one general service manager position. The fair run until the business closes at 6 p.m. today.

Cvent creates software for businesses to organize meetings and events. The company will occupy three additional floors of Boro Station at 1765 Greensboro Station Place.

For those applying to the company, Stoltenberg said the company is looking for employees with an “entrepreneurial mindset” who are “natural go-getters who embody that start-up mentality.”
Stoltenberg also bragged about the company’s all-out Halloween party, which includes divisions competing for best costumes and best overall decorations.
Other perks at the company range from the standard “free office coffee” to onsite massages and other wellness activities.
The company recently expanded into the fifth floor of their headquarters at 1765 Greensboro Station, just south of The Boro development. Stoltenberg said part of that move included discussions with employees to figure out what enhancements or additions were most needed.
“As we expand, it’s important the new floors are constructed in a way that means we have the best environment for our growing team,” said Stoltenberg.
