A house for sale near Wolf Trap is tied to the story of neighbors who teamed up to keep kids safe during their football practice from the D.C. sniper.

In 2002, a shooting spree in the D.C.-area killed 10 people. and wounded three other people over a three-week period.

“The Vienna Steelers banned together in the Coral Ridge cul-de-sac of one of the players’ homes,” Morgan Samson with The Casey Samson Team said in a blog post. “Parents stood guard at the entrances of the neighborhood so the boys could continue to practice.”

The team included Head Coach Casey Samson, Quarterback Billy Samson and “supporting dad” Pat Samson — “all of whom are now members of The Casey Samson Team,” according to the post.

The Casey Samson Team has the house at 9464 Coral Crest Lane listed for $1,550,000.

The 8,200-square-foot house has five bedrooms, a three-car-garage and includes a renovated kitchen, walk-in closets and two fireplaces. The lower level features a recreation room, playroom, hobby room and exercise room.

The house will be open from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 17), Morgan Samson said.

(Updated at 12:55 p.m.) A man was shot last night (Thursday) in a residential area off Lee Hwy in the Falls Church area, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 2800 block of Pine Spring Road, which is near Pine Spring Park, the Trinity School at Meadow View and Pine Spring Elementary School. The area is surrounded by homes.

The man was shot outside and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Greg Bedor, a police spokesperson, told Tysons Reporter.

“A male reported he was outside of his home when he was approached by someone who shot him,” according to the daily crime recap. “The suspect fled; no additional description was provided.”

Bedor said that there was no threat to the public. “We think this was not a random incident,” he said.

Despite some confusion on Twitter, the incident is not related to the hit and run that killed a pedestrian in Fairfax, Bedor said.

It’s been two years since the fatal shooting of a Tysons man by U.S. Park Police, and McLean residents want answers.

The FBI has been investigating the Nov. 17, 2017 shooting where two U.S. Park Police fired into a Jeep Grand Cherokee and hit Bijan Ghaisar, a 25-year-old.

In June, U.S. Senators joined the call for answers in the shooting.

Tonight (Wednesday), the McLean Citizens Association is set to discuss a draft of a resolution that would urge the Park Police and FBI “to disclose urgently the findings from their investigation, in the interest of transparency and accountability to our community.”

MCA made a similar effort last year to obtain new information, according to the draft resolution.

“The Park Service and FBI have disclosed little information about the shooting despite numerous requests from Mr. Ghaisar’s family, elected representatives in the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, state and local government representatives, the Washington Post, and our community,” the resolution says.

The MCA meeting is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. at the McLean Community Center.

The U.S. Park Police Chief Robert MacLean said yesterday (Wednesday) that he is stepping down.

The announcement came nearly two years after a fatal shooting of a Tysons man by U.S. Park Police that politicians and community members are still trying to get answers to.

The FBI has been investigating the Nov. 17, 2017 shooting where two U.S. Park Police fired into a Jeep Grand Cherokee and hit Bijan Ghaisar, a 25-year-old.

MacLean told Fox 5 DC that he is met with the Ghaisar family shortly after the incident to provide them with more explanation and that he is leaving the case to the FBI to “bring that impartiality and objectivity.”

MacLean worked for the Park Police for nearly 30 years, having positions in both the operational and administrative areas, according to his bio. He was selected to be the acting police chief in December 2013.

According to Fox 5 DC, he has a job lined up at the Office of Law Enforcement and Security at the Department of Interior.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) have joined the call for answers in the shooting of a Tysons man by U.S. Park Police in 2017.

Bijan Ghaisar, a 25-year-old, was shot on Nov. 17, 2017 by two U.S. Park Police who fired into his Jeep Grand Cherokee. Three days after the shooting, the FBI took over the investigation, but there’s been virtually no update on the case.

“We write today to once again request an update on the status of the Bijan Ghaisar investigation,” Grassley and Warner said in a joint letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray. “The FBI has failed to provide information on this investigation, which has been ongoing since November 2017, to us, our colleagues, or the public. The FBI’s slow pace and lack of transparency are weakening the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.”

The letter notes that family members and the press have had to rely on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for simple details like whether or not Ghaisar had a weapon when he was killed — which he did not, according to FOIA documents obtained by Ghaisar’s family.

The senators are not the first to call for answers. Last November, on the anniversary of the shooting, the McLean Citizens Association also issued a resolution demanding answers.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) also pushed for answers in 2018. The Grassley and Warner letter notes the FBI has previously responded that it would not discuss an active investigation.

Grassley and Warner also sent a joint letter to Dan Smith, the acting director of the National Park Service, with questions about the agency’s policies on the use of force.

The letters to the FBI and NPS demand an update from both organizations no later than July 2.

Fairfax County police say a McLean man cleaning his gun may have accidentally injured his eye.

The incident occurred on the 6600 block of Holland Street near Langley High School yesterday (Tuesday) at 3:40 p.m, according to a recap:

A resident was cleaning his target rifle when his finger depressed the trigger, causing the gun to go off. Debris from the bullet bounced off the floor and lodged into his eye. The man was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. Charges will be determined pending consultation with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney.

A Fairfax County grand jury indicted Veronica Youngblood Monday (May 20) with two murder charges after she allegedly shot both of her daughters, according to news reports.

Youngblood was arrested in Loudoun County and charged with murder after police found two girls with gunshot wounds in their Tysons apartment last year, Tysons Reporter previously reported.

The 5-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 15-year-old died at the hospital.

The incident happened after a custody dispute between Youngblood and her divorced husband, WTOP reported.

The 33-year-old mother was previously charged with the murder of the younger daughter and wounding the older daughter — the indictment was the first time she was charged in the 15-year-old’s death, WTOP reported.

A bullet was fired into a home one block from the Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro station, but so far, that’s about all police are saying about the incident.

Police say the incident occurred 2600 block of Avenir Place on Saturday (March 2) around 2 a.m.

“A woman was lying in bed with her mother when a bullet shot through their bedroom window,” police said in a crime report. “No injuries were reported.”

Police said they were still investigating the incident and working to determine the source of the bullet.

Virginia State Police say an altercation between drivers resulted in a gunshot just south of Tysons.

The incident was reported to have taken place on I-66 at the Route 7 exit ramp, near Pimmit Hills at around 1:38 p.m. this afternoon (Friday).

According to police:

When troopers arrived on scene, they found a Toyota Highlander stopped on the shoulder with a bullet hole in the front, driver’s side, quarter panel near the headlight. No bullet was recovered.

The Toyota’s adult male driver said that a black Audi sedan with tinted windows cut him off on Interstate 66 as they were both headed east and merging from three to two lanes.. The Toyota’s driver sounded his horn in response, at which point the driver of the Audi “brake checked” him. Then the Audi pulled up alongside the Toyota and the driver displayed a handgun and fired a single round at the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured and was not able to provide a valid tag number of the suspect vehicle.

A man who was unloading his handgun near Silver Diner in Tysons accidentally shot himself Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened “outside of a business” on the 8100 block of Fletcher Street, just before 9:30 a.m., according to police. That block is home to Silver Diner and a Capital One Bank branch, though an FCPD spokesperson said the department “[does] not include the business if it was not directly involved.”

The man shot himself in the leg, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

“A witness and officers rendered aid,” police said in a crime report. “He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.”

“Officers confirmed the man lawfully possessed the gun,” the crime report added. “The Office of the Commonwealth Attorney will be consulted for any possible charges.”
