A long-empty, one-story building at 8200 Leesburg Pike near the PetSmart in Tysons could soon become an interior-design showroom.
New signs around the property say the location will be converted into a showroom for Porcelanosa, a Spanish tile distributor and retailer.
The company sells a variety of tile types, from natural appearances to more mosaic-type designs, but also has suites available for bathrooms and kitchens.
The location had previously been a TitleMax loan business but has been vacant since at least 2017.
No permits for the showroom could be found on the Fairfax County website, but signs outside the lot said the showroom will be opening sometime in 2020.
The last in a trifecta of new eateries from Great American Restaurants plans to open next week.
Randy’s Prime Seafood and Steaks recently announced on Facebook that it will start serving at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday (July 30). The restaurant is currently taking reservations.
The dinner menu features a raw bar, wagyu steaks and a variety of seafood. The restaurant’s decor includes five “special paintings” by Jack Gable from Maine, according to Randy’s website.
The two other restaurants at 8051 Leesburg Pike — Patsy’s American and Best Buns — opened earlier this year.
The restaurants are named after Randy and Patsy Norton, a husband-and-wife restaurant team who were two of the founders of Great American Restaurants in 1976.
The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a robbery, an attempted robbery and three burglaries that occurred in Tysons and McLean last week.
On Thursday (July 18), a man reported to police that he was walking around the 8300 block of Leesburg Pike around 10 p.m. when a man demanded money from him.
“The suspect took the victim’s money and left the area,” police said. “The suspect is described as black, 5’10, in his late teens and wearing a white tank top.”
The next day (Friday), an attempted robbery occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Pinnacle Drive.

A woman was sitting in her car when a man approached, demanded her property and attempted to open her door. The man did not take anything and left the area. The suspect is described as white, in his 30’s, with a crew cut and wearing a large backpack.
Sometime between Friday and Saturday, two Chinese restaurants in McLean were burglarized, police said.
An employee at House of Fortune (6715 Lowell Avenue) reported to the police that someone entered and took property from inside. Nearby, someone broke a window and took property from inside Wok N Roll (1371 Beverly Road).
On Saturday, someone entered the Caliber Collision (1572 Spring Hill Road) in Tysons overnight and stole several sets of car keys, police said.

Fairfax County police arrested a 30-year-man at a McDonald’s in Tysons for allegedly trespassing, pretending to be an employee and assaulting a police officer.
The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. last Friday (July 5) at 8111 Leesburg Pike.
Police said an employee reported that a man was trespassing, and police discovered that he falsely claimed to be an employee.
“The man refused to leave, resisted arrest and assaulted an officer,” according to the police report.
Police arrested and charged Hakeem Linkins of no fixed address with resisting arrest, trespassing and assault on a law enforcement officer. He was held without bond.
In a separate incident, police are investigating grand larceny at the Safeway (1688 Anderson Road) in McLean near Tysons on Saturday (July 6).
Around 2 a.m., three men entered the store, walked around for a few minutes and then one of the men made a small purchase that distracted the clerk, while the two other men removed cash register drawers, police said.
“All three men, described as black and in their 20s, ran out of the store, entered cars and drove away,” according to the police report.

Construction work on a connector ramp from I-66 to the West Falls Church Metro station is set to start a year later than planned.
“Our project manager, Mark Gibney, has confirmed that construction of the I-66 connector ramp to the West Falls Church Metro station will begin construction in summer 2020 and finish by fall 2021,” Michelle Holland, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Transporation, tod Tysons Reporter.
Currently, cars traveling eastbound on I-66 to the Metro station exit from I-66, turn right to head south on Route 7 (Leesburg Pike), turn left at the intersection at Haycock Road and then turn left onto Falls Church Drive. “VDOT has identified operational and safety issues with this maneuver, especially during AM and PM peak periods,” according to the project’s website.
The new ramp, which is a part of the I-66 widening project, would connect two existing ramps, spitting drivers out onto Falls Church Drive.
While the VDOT website currently says that construction is set to begin this summer and get completed by fall 2o20, the spokesperson said that the website will soon get updated to reflect the correct information.

(Updated at 1 p.m.) Drivers can expect delays along Leesburg Pike (Route 7) from a multi-vehicle crash near Lewinsville Road.
The west left lane and center lane are closed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Tysons Reporter noted that traffic is down to one lane westbound on Leesburg Pike as police arrest someone for a traffic stop unrelated to the crash.

Fairfax County police are looking for the burglar or burglars who broke into three stores in downtown McLean over the weekend.
The McLean Hair Center (1438 Center Street), Figuroes Salon (1439 Center Street) and McLean Pizza (1434 Center Street) all were broken into overnight on Sunday (June 30) and had cash taken, according to police.
Elsewhere, police said someone broke into the Rosenthal Nissan Mazda of Tysons Corner dealership (8525 Leesburg Pike) and stole a 2017 Hyundai Accent and a 2016 Nissan Altima around midnight on Saturday (June 29).

A shopping center near the Greensboro Metro station will soon have a Burlington store.
Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the national off-price department store chain recently announced that it will open this fall in Sports Authority’s former spot at 8355 Leesburg Pike.
“This new location brings jobs to the community and provides a great shopping experience for the entire family,” Tom Kingsbury, the chief executive officer and chairman of Burlington Stores, said in a press release.
Burlington will occupy 42,900 square feet in the shopping center, filling one of its more noticeable vacancies. “Whether they’re looking for brand name clothing, stylish home decor items, or anything for baby, customers will enjoy significant savings and discover new merchandise arrivals each week,” Kingsbury said.
The new store will be the 20th Burlington location in Virginia, according to the press release.
Two sites poised for redevelopment in Tysons now have new owners.
Thallium LLC acquired 8133 Leesburg Pike for a little more than $30 million, while McLean-based Tepe & Hisar LLC paid $19.5 million for 8201 Leesburg Pike — a total of about $50 million for the redevelopment sites, the Washington Business Journal reported.
Two years ago, Fairfax County approved the sites for a redevelopment project called International Place. Shortly afterward, the developer filed for bankruptcy.
It’s unclear what will happen to the two sites next.
“Dogan Savasman, identified in court records as chief executive manager for Tepe & Hisar, could not be reached for comment. He said in a previous interview he intends to redevelop 8201 Leesburg but those plans could change from what Garrett had proposed,” according to the Washington Business Journal.

Like the rest of Tysons near the Spring Hill Metro station, the McDonald’s at 8512 Leesburg Pike is getting a facelift.
The restaurant is temporarily closed for renovations as the store is converted from its more traditional blue-sloped roof to a more modern design, like the one at 8111 Leesburg Pike.
Workers at the project said construction is expected to last two or three more weeks, though they declined to say what the new renovations entail.
A sweeping redesign is in the works for McDonald’s nationwide, though the efforts have been with met with some resistance from franchise owners.
