A luxury tower with condominiums plans to celebrate its grand opening this weekend in The Boro.
Known as Verse, the 25-story-tall tower offers one-, two- and three-bedroom condos, along with a private outdoor lounge and fitness spa.
The building has 140 residences — the one-bedrooms start at $500,000, two-bedrooms at $850,000 and three-bedrooms at $1.2 million.
The grand opening celebration is set to take place from noon-4 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 25) at the entertainment lounge and sky park on the 9th floor.
The event is free and people interested in attending are encouraged to RVSP on Eventbrite.

- Vienna Theatre Company: “Cinderella”— 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Vienna Community Center (120 SE Cherry Street) — This production is about an adaption of the Grimm Brothers’ classic fairy tale “Cinderella.” All ages are welcome to these matinee performances and tickets are $15 at the door.
- Junior Girl Scout Workshop: Coding for Good –– 3 to 6 p.m. at Code Ninjas (510 S. Washington Street) — This event invites local troops to learn about STEM and computer science while learning badges. Sign-up online is required.
Sunday (Jan. 26)
- Lunar New Year — noon to 4 p.m. at Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Road) — From Visit Fairfax, this event will feature the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe and the Jow Ga Shaolin Institute. This event is free and open to the public.
- Tysons Corner Comic Book Show 2020 — 10 a.m. at DoubleTree Hotel (1960 Chain Bridge Road) — This event will feature comic books, pokemon and magic cards, toys, original art, vintage and present-day sports cards and sports memorabilia. Admission is $3 for adults and free for kids under 12.
- McLean Chocolate Festival — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the McLean Community Center (1234 Ingleside Ave) — Attendees can expect a children’s game room and live entertainment while enjoying sweets from local chocolatiers. Admission is $2, but kids ages 3 and under can attend for free.

Black Dog Beer Shop, a craft beer store inspired by the owner’s dog, plans to open near the Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro station in early February.
Owner Tyler Cohen, who lives in the Mosaic District, previously told Tysons Reporter that his black dog, Ash, inspired the name of the store.
“I think they just, like, go together,” he said. “Dogs and beer is the thing.”
To gear up for his opening, Cohen has been detailing his tours of breweries across Virginia on the website’s blog.
The store is set to hold a grand opening at 2672M Avenir Place in 18 days, according to a countdown on the website.
The store plans to be open from 9:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays, according to the website.
(Updated 1/16/20) After several delays, The Casual Pint is now open in Falls Church.
The bar offers dozens of locally sourced brews to customers and a spokesperson told Tysons Reporter that the grand opening will take place next Friday (Jan. 24) at 4 p.m.
Throughout the evening of the grand opening, The Casual Pint will be giving prizes away along with free growlers to the first 50 customers, according to owner Darren McClure.
“We are getting to know everyone in the neighborhood and people’s reaction to the spot have been very positive,” McClure said.
The location is open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and from 11 a.m. until 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays at 6410 Arlington Blvd, Suite E.
Employees are currently running through the systems, trying to work out the final kinks, according to a spokesperson.
At the grand opening next Friday, The Casual Pint will offer free growlers to the first 50 customers and drink specials all day, according McClure.
The Casual Pint, a chain watering hole, will finally open its doors in Falls Church (6410 Arlington Blvd) just after the new year.
The location’s opening date is set for Thursday (Jan. 9) with a grand opening party and ribbon cutting on Friday (Jan. 17), according to the bar’s owner Darren McClure.
The original opening date was pushed back from December because of a delay in county inspections, according to the company’s Facebook page.
“We decided to wait until after the holidays,” McClure said. “We are excited to get going.”
McClure said he plans to invite Falls Church City Council Members to the ribbon-cutting on Jan. 17.
Free growlers await the first 50 attendees that day and there will be a variety of other prizes up for grabs, he said.
Hours of operation listed on Facebook are Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. On Sundays, from 11 .m. until 12 a.m.
There will be around 34 craft beers on tap, according to McClure, adding that he is in the process of forming agreements with local brewers.
“We want to represent the whole area,” he said.
The location will accommodate around 60 people at one time, McClure said. Both indoor and covered outdoor seating will be available.

Tysons Corner Center has a few new tenants — including a bubble tea place and kids’ clothing store.
Moge Tee officially opened on Thanksgiving, according to the store manager, and now offers customers a variety of drinks including bubble milk tea, taro tea, tea made from fresh juices, Yakult yogurt drinks and cheese tea, which takes a form of foam on the top of the drink.
The tea shop is a chain with roughly 300 locations across the world, according to the company’s website.
Besides the new location in Tysons, there are several other stores in the U.S. — including a Falls Church location (6122-B Arlington Blvd).
When asked about potential competition with the preexisting Kung Fu Tea in Tysons Corner Center, the manager said it shouldn’t be an issue since Moge Tee offers specialized items like brown sugar bubble milk tea or cheese tea.
Moge Tee also carries Dorayki, a type of red bean pancake dessert that comes in various flavors including Oreo and taro.
Beginning next week, Moge Tee is running a buy-one-get-one-free promotion for customers who share a post on either WeChat, Facebook or Instagram and get at least eight likes, the manager said.
Nearby Moge Tee on the first level of the mall near Nordstrom, Abercrombie Kids opened roughly a month ago, according to store employees.
Business was slow at first because of the location in the mall, another employee said, adding that things began to pick up after Black Friday.
For anyone seeking employment, Abercrombie Kids is actively hiring and people can apply in-person.
Jersey Mike’s plans to start serving subs with a side of fundraising today near the Spring Hill Metro station in Tysons.
Located at 1501C Cornerside Blvd, the sandwich chain is one of several eateries in Tysons West Phase III — a redevelopment that added new retail buildings across from Walmart.
Other options for diners include the newly opened B.GOOD, Smoothie King and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Franchise owner Asha Thakur, the franchise owner, is set to hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser today (Wednesday) to Sunday (Dec. 8) to support the Children’s National Hospital, according to a press release.
People who live or work in the area might snag one of the 10,000 coupons circulating throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to the Children’s National Hospital.
Over in Falls Church, the upcoming Jersey Mike’s at the Falls Plaza location (1108-A West Broad Street) is expected to open at a later date, a spokesperson for the company told Tysons Reporter.
The Tysons spot is open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. every day, the press release said.
A new children’s fitness center held a grand opening ceremony in the Town of Vienna yesterday.
The grand opening for My Gym Vienna took place on Monday, Dec. 2, with a ribbon-cutting by Mayor Laurie DiRocco.
Located at 133 Park Street SE, the new center is a part of My Gym, an international corporation with more than 550 locations across 30 countries, according to its website.
My Gym Vienna serves kids ages six weeks to 10 years old with classes that offer music, dance, relays, games, special rides, gymnastics and sports, according to a press release.
The owner of My Gym Vienna also operates the one in McLean at 6825 Tennyson Drive, Suite A.
“We’re excited to bring My Gym’s Fitness & Fun curriculum to Vienna and hope to help many children grow to enjoy healthy life-styles,” Owner Guillermo Herbozo said in the press release, adding that My Gym “plans to open My Gym in Reston in the next 12 months and in Ashburn shortly after.”

The Chick-fil-A in Vienna officially opened its doors this morning (Thursday) with a promotion for free food.
Starting at 6 p.m. last night (Nov. 20), community members were encouraged to camp out in front of the store at 538 W. Maple Avenue with the promise that the first 100 customers in line this morning for the official opening at 6 a.m. would be given free meals for a year.
Around 104 people showed up for the grand opening celebration that featured Mayor Laurie DiRocco and other town representatives, according to a company spokesperson.
The campout is a standing tradition for all new location openings, according to Chick-fil-A’s website.
From now on, the location will be open 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and closed on Sundays.
The new location features a drive-thru as well as an indoor dining room, playroom and outdoor seating.

The Pennywise Thrift Shop found a new home in Vienna — just around the corner from its previous location.
The shop originally resided nearf the corner of Church and Mill streets, but was forced to move after a fire ravaged the 100-year old building in January. The new location (214 Dominion Road NE) has been open for roughly a month and offers slightly more retail space, Mary Coulombe, a shop spokesperson said.
The shop sells a variety of everyday items including clothes, kitchen items, books, shoes, glassware and small furniture.
The shop is run by the Church of the Holy Comforter, and all of the proceeds go to charities, Coulombe said, adding, “We are here as a mission.”
This year marks the thrift shop’s 57th anniversary, Coulombe said. Another staff member told Tysons Reporter that the new location will be the thrift shop’s home for at least the next couple of years.
The shop plans to celebrate its new spot with a grand re-opening ceremony on Saturday (Nov. 23) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Pennywise Thrift Shop is open from Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
