Vienna police arrested a 29-year-old man who allegedly hit a boy at Foster’s Grille.
The incident occurred at noon on Sunday (July 7) at the restaurant’s Vienna location (138 W. Maple Avenue).
From the police report:
A citizen was in Foster’s Grill with her juvenile son. A man was seated at the bar, randomly yelling and making the other customers uncomfortable. At one point, the man got up, went behind the juvenile, and struck him on the back. The man then left the restaurant.
Officers located the man in the area and found him to be incoherent. The man became irate with the officers, and it was determined that he may be a danger to himself or others.
Police arrested the man, who is a resident of Cornflower Court in Vienna, on an Emergency Custody Order and took him to a nearby medical facility for an evaluation.
Police told the mom about the warrant process if she wants to pursue charges against the man for misdemeanor assault on her son.
Around 12:40 p.m. while police were investigating the alleged assault, a different man came up to the boy and asked about the police activity, according to the report.
“The man was advised by officers to continue on his way,” police said, adding that the man walked through the middle of the investigation. “At one point, the man approached the juvenile and made a statement that concerned the juvenile.”
Police said that the man eventually left the area.
In a separate incident, Vienna police are looking for the man who allegedly exposed himself in Patrick Henry Library last month.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on June 27. Police said a woman reported that “she was in the library when an unknown man exposed himself in front of her.”
The man then left the library (101 E. Maple Avenue), and police were not able to find him, according to the police report.

Fairfax County police arrested a 30-year-man at a McDonald’s in Tysons for allegedly trespassing, pretending to be an employee and assaulting a police officer.
The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. last Friday (July 5) at 8111 Leesburg Pike.
Police said an employee reported that a man was trespassing, and police discovered that he falsely claimed to be an employee.
“The man refused to leave, resisted arrest and assaulted an officer,” according to the police report.
Police arrested and charged Hakeem Linkins of no fixed address with resisting arrest, trespassing and assault on a law enforcement officer. He was held without bond.
In a separate incident, police are investigating grand larceny at the Safeway (1688 Anderson Road) in McLean near Tysons on Saturday (July 6).
Around 2 a.m., three men entered the store, walked around for a few minutes and then one of the men made a small purchase that distracted the clerk, while the two other men removed cash register drawers, police said.
“All three men, described as black and in their 20s, ran out of the store, entered cars and drove away,” according to the police report.

After an eight-hour-long search last week, Vienna police tracked down and arrested a man in connection with several crimes around the Town of Vienna, including assault, fraud and burglary.
It all started shortly after midnight last Monday (June 17) when police said a 27-year-old man of no fixed residence tried to pay a cab driver, who had dropped him off in front of the Wolftrap Hotel (430 W. Maple Avenue), with multiple credit cards that were all declined.
“The man began to walk away, and when the cab driver confronted him regarding the payment, the man threatened him with a knife,” according to police. “The man then ran off behind the hotel.”
About four hours later, police said that the man was caught trying to get into a home in the 300 block of Nutley Street and ran off. The resident of the home went out to look for the man, found him and recognized him as an acquaintance, according to police.
When the resident told the man to leave the property, the man threatened the resident with a knife and then ran away, police said.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m., a different resident at a home in the 200 block of Paris Court SW spotted the man on her deck while checking her home’s security cameras.
“Officers located the man and found he was the same person involved in the incidents that had occurred earlier,” according to police.
By that point, the police had warrants charging assault with a weapon, defrauding a cab driver, burglary with a weapon and assault. Once they found the man, police determined that he was also wanted in Fairfax County on warrants charging probation violation and failure to appear in court.
After he was arrested, “the man began complaining that he did not feel well and needed medical attention,” according to police. He was taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation and, once the hospital staff cleared him, to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
But that’s not all.
While police were searching for the man, police said they stumbled across several bags of his belongings in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of Mendon Lane SW.
“The resident advised the bags did not belong to him, and he wanted them removed,” according to police. “Officers inventoried the property and found that in addition to personal belongings, the bags contained narcotics and drug paraphernalia.”

(Updated at 9:15 a.m.)Â Fairfax County police arrested a man early this morning, ending an eight-hour-long barricade situation that closed Old Dominion Drive in McLean.
Police responded yesterday (May 28) to a home around 4:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Old Dominion Drive after a family member reported an assault, the police department tweeted at 7:04 p.m.
“The victim was able to leave the house. 25-year-old Sean Price, of McLean, refused to come out and barricaded himself in the home,” according to a press release.
Police contained the scene while crisis negotiators and tactical officers worked to “peacefully resolve the situation,” the press release said.
Police arrested Price and charged him with assault and violation of a protective order around 12:30 a.m. today (May 29), ending the barricade that closed Old Dominion Drive between Valley Avenue and Kirby Road.

Fairfax County’s violent crime rates slightly decreased this year compared to last year, according to a new report from the police department.
The new data comes from FCPD’s annual crime report, which the department released today (Friday). The 64-page document reports a decrease in violent crime rates between 2017 and 2018 for homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
- homicide decreased from 20 to 13
- rape decreased from 98 to 92
- robbery decreased from 428 to 354
- aggravated assault decreased from 283 to 260
The report also provides comparisons between FCPD’s eight police districts for the number of driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests, citations and dispatched calls.
The McLean District, which covers Merrifield, Dunn Loring, Falls Church, McLean, Tysons Corner and Great Falls, fell on the higher end for the number of DWI arrests with 251 last year.
The report says that officers from the McLean District teamed up last year with Fairfax County Public Schools to support “International Walk to School Day” to reduce traffic congestion and pollution near schools as the county grapples with transportation infrastructure challenges.
In addition to the crime statistics, the report also notes how many different types of complaints the Internal Affairs Bureau closed. A majority of internal complaints were closed — 129 out of 169. Out of the 129 external complaints, however, only 78 were closed.
Fairfax County Police say two employees at an unnamed business near the Spring Hill Metro station were threatened at gunpoint, and one was robbed.
The report says the robbery took place on the 8400 block of Broad Street — the block behind The Ascent residential building — around 2 p.m. on Tuesday (April 23), according to the police report.
According to the report:
Two employees overheard a commotion in the stairwell and saw two men walking away. The employees were then approached by the men and one of them displayed a black handgun. One employee ran away while the second was assaulted and his property was taken. The men left the area in a black sedan. They are described as black, about 6′ and wearing dark clothing.

An unwanted hug led to a call to police in the Town of Vienna Thursday evening.
The creepy incident happened at the intersection of Maple Avenue W at Center Street N and was reported around 6:45 p.m., according to police.
“A woman advised she was standing in front of Starbucks when an unknown man approached her and asked for a hug,” said today’s Vienna Police Department crime report. “When the woman ignored the man, he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her. The woman ran from the man and notified the police after she arrived home.”
Should the man ever be caught, he could face assault charges.

Fairfax County Police say investigating a trail of broken eggs and gunshots yesterday (Thursday) led to a combative encounter on the 2000 block of George Washington Road.
Officers responded to a report from a homeowner whose entertainment center was damaged when a bullet came in through the window, according to a police report.
While investigating the gunshot, an unusual set of circumstances led police to a combative suspect.
According to the police report:
As officers were checking the area, they saw broken eggs on the outside wall of a nearby home. Officers spoke with a man inside that home, Varun Srivastav, 21, of Fairfax. Officers learned there was a handgun inside in Srivastav’s home. This agitated Srivastav who became combative and hit two officers. Srivastav was arrested but continued to assault officers while being escorted to the cruiser. Once he arrived at the Adult Detention Center, Srivastav assaulted two deputies.
Police say Srivastav was charged with four counts of assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest, with additional charges possible pending investigation.

A meeting about taxes ended in violence and an arrest on Sunday.
Fairfax County Police say a woman was meeting with a man in Tysons to get her taxes done, but an argument ensued and the man then assaulted her, causing facial lacerations. It’s not clear how the victim knew the suspect nor how the argument started.
The suspect, 28-year-old [Redacted], was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

ASSAULT: 1600 block of International Drive, 02/10/19, 7:23 p.m. Officers responded to the location for an altercation between a man and a woman. Officers located the victim in the lobby with cuts to her face. The victim stated she was at the location to have her taxes done when she got into an argument with the man she was meeting. He assaulted her and she was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. [Redacted], 28, of McLean was arrested for malicious wounding.
A Falls Church man has been arrested and charged with drunkenly trying to rob a rideshare driver, then beating him with his own windshield wiper.
The alleged incident happened around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. Fairfax County Police say 30-year-old William Paneque and another man were being driven from Tysons Corner Center to the 2900 block of Monticello Drive, in the West Falls Church area.
“Once they arrived, one of the men grabbed the victim’s jacket and demanded money,” FCPD said in a crime report. “The victim told the suspect he did not have any money.”
“The suspect broke a windshield wiper off the car and hit the victim with it, causing minor injury,” the crime report continues. “Officers arrested William Paneque, 30, of Falls Church, as he tried to leave the scene. Paneque was charged with attempted robbery, destruction of property and drunk in public.”
