A motorcyclist allegedly led police on a high speed, late night pursuit that ended in a crash near Falls Church.

According to Fairfax County Police, at 12:39 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, a police officer observed 24-year old Ryan Bras speeding west on Arlington Blvd. The officer activated his emergency equipment to stop Bras, but Bras accelerated, police say.

Shortly thereafter, Bras lost control of the motorcycle and the bike tipped onto its side.

Bras was uninjured and was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with reckless driving and speed to elude.

Election Day is still more than six weeks away, but if you want to vote right now, many of you can do that.

In-person absentee voting started Monday at the county’s Government Center in Fairfax. On October 13 it will expand to nine additional locations. You can also vote by mail right now.

Voting by absentee ballot could save you lots of time because there are lots of registered voters in Fairfax County – almost 700,000. And turnout is elected to be heavy on Election Day.

The Women in Technology organization is hosting its fall job fair tomorrow (Wednesday) in Tysons.

Both men and women are encouraged to attend and meet recruiters. The event is free but online registration is required and will allow exhibitors to view the applicant’s resume. Exhibitor registration for the event has been closed, but potential exhibitors are encouraged to check later for the spring job fair.

Exhibitors at the job fair range from large corporations like Sony and Amazon to organizations like the International Atomic Energy Agency. A full list of exhibitors can be viewed here.

The event runs from 4-7 p.m. at Valo Park — the former Gannett headquarters at 7950 Jones Branch Drive.

The Redskins Runway Show is returning to Tysons tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. in the Tysons Corner Center mall’s Bloomingdale’s.

Now in its fourth year, the annual show features Redskins players, wives, and the First Ladies of Football modeling the latest fall fashions.

Ten percent of all purchases at Bloomingdale’s that evening raise funds the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, an organization that supports youth programs across the region.

A $100 ticket comes with a “swag bag”, a chance to mix and mingle with the Redskins celebrity models with food and beverage provided, and admission to the Runway Show. A silent auction held that evening will feature over 25 exclusive Redskins items and experiences.

Honeygrow, a Philadelphia-based stir-fry restaurant, is launching in Tysons at 8399 Leesburg Pike later this week with a food giveaway and donation drive.

The fast casual chain opens tomorrow (Thursday) for a tasting preview event ahead of the grand opening on Friday (Sept. 21). Honeygrow is partnering with the charity Back on My Feet, a non-profit that helps homeless people gain independence and life skills, to give the first 100 people who donate to the organization on Friday a free stir fry or salad. All day long, $5 from each order will go to the charity.

Jen Dennis, Honeygrow’s Chief Brand Officer, said the young professionals and young families that live in the Tysons area were a large part of the demographic Honeygrow is targeting.

“The whole premise is customization,” said Dennis. “When you enter, you order on a touchscreen kiosk. Every element of the dish is customizable.”

In addition to the touch-screen kiosk, Honeygrow’s app allows customers to order ahead for pickup.

While customization is a major draw for other trendy chains targeting young professionals, Dennis said Honeygrow aims to set itself apart with the freshness of its food.

“This style of food being freshly made from scratch, which really appeals to the market of Tysons,” said Dennis. “We think our food is set apart from competition. Everything is made from scratch and made to order. Nothing sits around. There are no freezers at our locations, everything is as fresh and local as possible. Inside we have lists that display all of the local food options showing where they’re from.”

The clover honey, for instance, is sourced to Gunter’s Honey in Berryville, Virginia, while the green kale hails from Kirby Farms in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Later this fall, Dennis said the chain will be new menu items customized for the local produce offerings in the Tysons area.

Honking horns over a stopped vehicle escalated into an exchange of racial obscenities and an allegation of an assault last Friday (Sept. 14) in downtown Tysons.

On the 8000 block of Leesburg Pike, Fairfax County Police reported a woman stopped her vehicle at an intersection when a fire truck was approaching with its emergency equipment activated. The driver behind her did not realize why she had stopped and began to honk his horn.

According to the police, the woman claimed the man began to call her racial slurs and eventually slapped her in the face with an open hand. The man claimed that it was the woman who had initially been using racial slurs and denied having struck the woman.

Police say neither party was ultimately interested in pressing charges.

An emaciated, dehydrated and badly injured dog was found wandering around Tysons, and now Fairfax County Police are hoping the public can help locate the dog’s owner.

The female pitbull mix was found on the 8000 block of Skokie Lane. She had been shot with some kind of projectile. A veterinarian also discovered the dog had fractures on her front left leg and pelvis, with a bad cut on her back left leg. According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the dog was most likely brought to the area and abandoned. The dog is currently being held at the shelter while the police search for the dog’s owners.
