Meet Marlow, a laid-back senior dog in search of a buddy to watch “Wheel of Fortune” with in his golden years.

Marlow’s friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation told us a little bit about him:

Marlow is the boxer you want in your corner!

Handsome and affectionate, Marlow is ready to embrace his retirement. He is a master relaxer who likes snoring during conference calls, daintily sampling new treats and arranging the pillows to his exact specifications. He’s got velvety soft jowls and a fabulously expressive RBF (that’s “Resting Boxer Face,” of course).

A gentle and tolerant guy, Marlow likes to snuggle up with humans of all ages. He’s calm and unreactive around other dogs and politely sniffs every new person that he meets. He has completely charmed his foster family’s friends and neighbors, not to mention their mail carrier and a repairman or two. Marlow is a low-energy homebody who doesn’t need (or want) a lot of exercise — no yard or long walks required! He’s a pro at getting his business done quickly and coming right back inside.

Marlow likes having his people around, and he’s looking for a family where someone is usually home during the day, though he’s fine alone in the house for a few hours. He is housetrained but does have some urinary incontinence — that is, sometimes he drips. (What can I say? It happens to the best of us.) However, he is happy to wear a belly band, especially if that means he can jump up on the couch to put his head in your lap and gaze soulfully into your eyes. He also has some skin growths that we’ve been keeping an eye on.

If you want a loving, low-maintenance work-from-home companion, Marlow might be the one for you!

Meet Nom Nom, a sweet, affectionate kitty who, when super happy, purrs loud enough for the whole room to hear. She’s looking for her perfect family.

Nom Nom’s friends at 4Paws Rescue Team shared some words from her:

Hello, future friends! My name is Nom Nom, and I am a spritely and affectionate kitty. I’m always up for play time, and I especially love when I can try out my hunting skills on a laser toy, feather wand or catnip mouse. I also love climbing up to the top of the cat tree to survey my domain.

But don’t think you always have to play with me to keep me happy. When I’m not off on my own exploring or napping, I love curling up next to you or even right on top of you to keep you warm and show you how much I love you. If you’re covered in a soft blanket I can lay on or if you scratch my head when I’m near you, I will purr loudly enough for the whole room to hear! Sometimes I’ll even groom you to remind you that you are an important part of my family.

I haven’t been around other cats or dogs, but I’m a very agreeable lady, and if they are nice to me, I’m certain to do the same for them. And even though I don’t live with any children in my foster home, I am always polite with young humans when they come to visit.

I hope to meet my perfect family soon and go to my forever home!

Meet Shelby, the latest Pet of the Week. Shelby is a pint-size pittie with a big personality.

Here’s what her friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation had to say about her:

Are you an adventurer looking for a big dog personality in a travel-size package? Small enough to never have to leave behind but tough enough to handle any terrain!

Shelby is pint-sized pittie with a character the size of Texas. She’s a triple shot Americano in a half-sized espresso cup, a pocket rocket with a mischievous side that is easily overlooked in favor of her zest for life and cuddly, silky soft fur!

Shelby is a carpe diem kinda girl. She seizes the day and comes out full throttle, ready to embrace whatever adventure awaits. She is a whirlwind of love, life and unbridled joy.

She is looking for an active family with teenagers or adults only, a fenced-in backyard and perhaps another high-energy doggy playmate. Bring on the fun — she may be little but she be mighty!

If you are interested in adopting Shelby, please contact Kat Sanders [email protected].

This week’s Pet of the Week isn’t your average cat or dog — it’s Tootsie! Tootsie is a sweet bunny who, though at times is shy, loves being hugged and exploring.

Here’s what Tootsie’s friends at Friends of Rabbits have to say about her:

Tootsie is a very sweet bunny who likes to explore, spend time with people and get treats. She is a bit shy and has nipped once when she needed to be released from being held. She likes to be hugged, though, to investigate people, and to have her head rubbed. She is a lovable bunny and is ready for her forever home.

Tootsie is not experienced with dogs or cats, but she likes children. She can be skittish but is friendly when she wants to be and enjoys attention. Her foster dad doesn’t consider her territorial. She’s a big fan of boxes (which she likes to push around), brown paper and toilet paper rolls filled with hay. She’s a great eater, including hay (and everything else!). Her litter box habits are pretty good, and she always uses her litter box to pee but not so much to poop.

Could you and Tootsie be the perfect match?

This week’s Pet of the Week is Ricky Martin, a friendly and easygoing kitten who’s looking for his forever home.

Here’s what his friends at 4Paws Rescue Team have to say about him:

Ricky Martin is the most adorable, playful kitten! The only kitten in his litter, he has learned to get along with just about everyone! Ricky Martin is extremely playful and can entertain himself with any toy, often turning a sock, a string or any other object into something fun. (He also loves dog toys!) He loves playing with other cats and dogs.

Ricky Martin is being fostered with his mom, Selena, two resident cats and a dog, and he gets along with them all. He has been around other dogs and cats that have been brought into the home, as well as children. He would be a great addition to any household!

Kittens his age must be adopted in pairs unless there’s another young cat in the home already. He could easily be paired with his mama, Selena Wise. His estimated birth date is 5/16/21, which means he’ll be ready to go to his forever home anytime now. His mama tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He has had or will have age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipping before adoption; he will need to be neutered when old enough.

Are you ready to live la vida loca with Ricky Martin?

Meet Major Z/Master Bruce, Tysons’ latest Pet of the Week. This sweet boy is very athletic but also loves cuddling up to you in bed each night (it’s hard to say no to those puppy dog eyes!).

Here’s what his friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation had to say about him:

Major Z/Master Bruce is a handsome, confident puppy by day and vigilante by night. In the weeks he has been with his foster, he has grown from being a puppy with explosive energy to the guardian of the house. He is fast and extremely athletic and has learned to catch a frisbee and balls with ease.

He loves his walks and is an explorer at heart. With big energy comes a bigger appetite, and Bruce is treat motivated and has learned commands like fetch, NO!, stay, sit and stand in a matter of weeks.

He will sleep on his bed, but every night he will ask you if he can climb yours and cuddle beside you. You can’t say no to him, because he has really mastered the puppy eyes weapon. He is overjoyed to see his foster dad every day when he returns home from the office, shaking with happiness and a wagging tail!

He is house-trained and only relieves himself outside when we are on the morning and evening walks daily. He did have a tendency to chew on his bed and playfully shred it, but that has changed with the right amount of toys and training.

From Bruce’s foster: ‘I feel really bad letting him go right when I’m able to converse with him and he tries to communicate with me. He has really left his paw mark in my heart. I’m sure he will be an amazing guardian to whatever lucky family he is destined to. It’s been an amazing journey with Bruce, and I will miss him with all my heart.’

Meet two of the “Sweet as Pie” kittens from 4Paws, Rhubarb and Apple.

Here’s what the 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about this duo:

Meet Rhubarb, one of our “Sweet as Pie” kittens! He is a friendly Siamese mix kitten. He was found under a dusty barn and he is learning the ropes of being an indoor kitty with his brother Apple, who he is bonded to and needs to be adopted with.

He loves pets, and is affectionate with his human fosters and brother. Though he may not be a lap cat, he loves to either snuggle up next to you or hold your hand. You may also find him hugging his brother while napping.

Meet Apple! This chocolate tabby kitten… quickly bonded with a slightly older foster kitten named Rhubarb and has become his shadow.

Rhubarb is teaching timid Apple that humans aren’t so bad. Apple is warming up to playing with all the toys he can get his little kitty paws on, and doesn’t mind head scratches and belly rubs when he’s sleepy. His brother, Rhubarb, must be close by or he gets anxious. We hope with lots of love and Rhubarb’s guiding paws, this playful kitten will come out of his shell quicker.

The kittens would do best in a quiet home or in a home that realizes they need to acclimate at a slower pace. They are being housed with older children right now.

Are you, Rhubarb and Apple the perfect match?

The most recent Pet of the Week is Tater Tot, a special needs senior chihuahua whose owner passed away. She’s a sweet lady who’s looking for a comfy home (and lap).

Here’s what her friends at Paws and Claws New England had to say about her:

Meet Tater Tot! She is a sweet senior chihuahua who is looking for a special home to share her cute self with! She is 10-11 years old and weighs in at 7.5 pounds. She came into rescue when she was surrendered to our rescue after her owner passed away and the family did not want to assume her care. While in her loving foster home, she has had her medical needs addressed and given lots of TLC. She is now ready for the magic of her very own forever home!

Tater Tot’s foster mom says she is a super sweet little lady who loves to be in a lap! She enjoys everyone she meets and thrives on attention. She gets particularly excited when its time to eat or someone comes over. I am sure she thinks they are there to pet her — lol! We have designated Tater Tot as special needs as she has some mobility issues and a cardiac condition. Both are treated with daily medications, and she is very stable, enjoying her life and the love of her humans. Screened applicants will get thorough information on her medical issues/meds, etc.

Tater Tot is house-trained. She mostly uses the doggie door in her foster home or pads inside when necessary. She does not need to be crated but will sometimes nap in a crate with the door open. She is leashed trained with a harness and could do short walks. She is fostered with other dogs and does fine unless she is occupying a lap or a snuggle spot on the bed — then she doesn’t want the other dogs trying to nose in on her space! Cat wise, she hasn’t been exposed at her foster home but her foster mom thinks she’d do fine with good introductions. We think her best home would be a teen/adult home given her age.

Could you and Tater Tot be the perfect match? Find more information (and videos) on her Petfinder page.

Pumpkin had a long journey from Kabul, Afghanistan, to Virginia, but he’s now ready to settle into his forever home.

Here’s what he told his friends at 4Paws Rescue Team:

Hi! My name is Pumpkin, and I recently arrived in the states after being rescued by an American who was working in Afghanistan, and then I was sponsored to travel here.

I am a sweet and gentle boy who loves to be petted. I am outgoing, and I get along with other cats. I’d especially enjoy another cat who would like to play with me!

I can be chatty sometimes, but that’s just because I want you to know how happy I am to be here and how much I look forward to your love and attention. I enjoy playing with my kitty toys, and I would be a great fit in almost any household.

Pumpkin’s estimated birthday is January 2018.

Could you give Pumpkin his forever home?

Smiley, who’s always got a smile on her face, is a Golden Retriever mix looking for her forever home.

Here’s what her friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation have to say about her:

Meet Smiley, a girl who is sure to always know how to turn your frown upside down! Smiley is a calm and gentle girl who greets everyone she meets warmly and politely along with her friendly grin. (Her name is Smiley for a reason!) You can make her grin even bigger by providing her with some pets to the head and ear scratches — those are her favorite!

Smily has immaculate manners. We haven’t noticed that she jumps on people at all and when we were taking her out, she even offered a sit to be leashed without a treat lure! She also walks well on the leash with little to no pulling (even when passing other dogs) and explores confidently outdoors, unfazed by loud noises or passing vehicles.

Smiley will truly be an amazing addition to her new forever family’s home. Come meet her to see for yourself just how truly amazing she is!

Are you and Smiley the perfect match?
