Meet Wonder, a sweet momma kitty who has taken good care of her seven babies (the “7 Natural World Wonder” kittens). She is now looking for her forever home with one of her kittens.

Here’s what Wonder’s friends at 4Paws Rescue Team have to say about her:

The 7 Natural World Wonder kittens were found at just 2 weeks old living outside near Blacksburg, Virginia, under the care of their mom, Wonder. They’ve spent the past couple weeks being pampered and loved by their mom and foster family in the safe indoors, which they gladly took to!

Wonder is the sweetest and most patient young mom of the 7 Natural World Wonders kittens. She cared and protected her babies outdoors before coming to her foster home with them. She loves to greet you at the door and stretches her neck out to make sure you give her some kisses and nose boops upon entering.

As her kittens are getting older and they become less demanding of her time, her incredibly sweet personality has blossomed more and more. Any time her foster family has a visitor over, she’s rolling on her back looking for a good scratch! She would prefer to cuddle than play right now, but we think once she has less mom demands she’ll have more energy for playtime!

Wonder is very petite, weighing only 5 pounds when she arrived. We’ve been working on gaining some healthy weight. Her calico coat is stunning with her pink nose and pink/black paw pads. After patiently caring for her babies for so long, Lady Wonder deserves a family who will give her the love and attention she’s shown her kittens.

She would do well being adopted with any of her kittens: Everest Cozort, Micho Cozort, Canyon Cozort, Reef Cozort, Rio Cozort, Aurora Cozort and Victoria Cozort.

Could you, Wonder and one of her kittens make the perfect match?

Meet Annie, the latest Pet of the Week. Annie’s human moved to assisted living and couldn’t take her along, so now she’s looking for a new home with a soft bed for naps and someone who’ll take her on slow walks.

Here’s what Annie, a senior Westie, shared through her friends at Westie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic States:

I need a really soft bed to snooze in. I love slow walks and exploring the outdoors. I like sitting on a front porch watching everyone come and go. This way I get to bark at the big dogs. I am a very good-looking Westie with GREAT fur and a pretty face. I like a good neck and cheek scratch on your chair. I walk well on a lead; I like to meet other dogs, and I like people. I am VERY attentive. I like to play with humans and my toys for 20 minutes, then sleep for two hours. I come when called… well not so much… but I sit on command, and I am house trained unless my bladder is way too full from drinking too much water. I like to snooze in a dog bed, too. I sleep soundly so you will need to clap your hands to wake me. I like to be near you. I have a few quirks, but who doesn’t when you get older?

I am currently with Uncle Stephen sleeping in his home office in Northern Virginia. I sleep a whole lot. Did I tell you I have great fur, and I need a big doggy bed, and if you touch my muzzle or startle me I might nip you? Well, I was told to be upfront about myself. I like Uncle Stephen a lot and he can do almost anything to me as he is in charge around here, and I want to suck up to get some treats and go for walks!

Call and schedule a visit today! There is only one of me, and I could use a new bed!

Meet Benny and Hunter, a sweet bonded duo looking for a new home.

Here’s what their friends at 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about them:

These two boys are looking for a new home due to changes in their current one. They are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. This is what their current owner says about them:

“Hunter, who we normally call Brother, is a very sweet boy. He loves to cuddle on the couch with Benny. He has been such a good cat since the day I got him. He is a little on the shy side but just give him a few minutes, and he will warm right up to you. He tolerates my toddler very well, but I think he would be happiest in a home with no little kids. He is the more vocal of the two cats, but still does not really meow too much. If you are looking for a super sweet cat to lay on the couch and take naps with you, this is your guy!

Benny (in front) is the king in the house. He loves to play with Brother and drop down in a patch of sunlight on the carpet and take a nap. He usually comes out to greet new people to ensure the coast is clear for Brother to come out. He is a bit of a piglet and always looking for snacks. I would not leave an unattended plate around him! He loves sneaking under the covers to take a nice long nap. He does not tolerate my toddler as well as Brother, but we have never had an issue. Again, I think a home with no little kids would be the best fit.”

Hunter’s estimated birth date is March 2014 and Benny’s is April 2015. They are neutered, current on vaccinations, have tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and are microchipped.

Will you, Benny and Hunter make the perfect trio?

Pet of the Week: Yzma

This week’s Pet of the Week is Yzma, a darling senior who’s looking for a human committed to giving her the care and love she deserves.

Here’s what her friends at Operation Underdog WV have to say about her:

Yzma is a joy, and if you are looking for a darling senior to pour your heart into, you couldn’t find a more deserving girl. Found roaming in South Carolina, Yzma was a pitiful sight. She had a poor body score and coat, and she had a noticeable weakness in her rear quarters, but despite her shaking fear, there was an infinite sweetness about her. And as soon as she left the shelter and was settled in a foster home, we were rewarded with a brilliant smile. Yzma is happy and loving and does best when she can follow the lead of a confident canine companion. She is house trained and does well without being crated. She likes to spend her time rotating between the dog beds and exploring the yard. And she is always up for a treat or a pet. She absolutely loves snow.

Yzma has degenerative disc disease, and our vet does not feel she is a candidate for surgery. This means she will need an owner who is committed to managing her condition with a combination of oral medication and other therapies, which may include things like laser, acupuncture, etc. Other considerations like managing her weight, and restriction of high-impact activity (avoiding stair use, not allowing her to jump on or off furniture) would be important for Yzma as well as quality food and supplements. Being that her condition is both chronic and there is the possibility of acute flare-ups, it is important for an adopter to know that this will be an ongoing process.

We realize that Yzma’s needs won’t be the right match for every applicant, but this is a truly special girl in more ways than one, and we do believe that there could be a special someone out there who will see that the love and devotion they give to Yzma will be returned tenfold. She’s totally worth the effort.

Are you and Yzma the perfect match?

Pet of the Week: Silver

The Pet of the Week is Silver, an affectionate kitty who recently arrived from Afghanistan.

Here’s what her friends at 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about her:

Silver is one of the cats who recently arrived from Afghanistan. This exotic-looking blue-grey beauty is an extremely affectionate lap cat.

Silver’s foster mom likens her to an affectionate leopard cat — big and playful. She loves to show off her hunt-and-capture skills with mice and feather toys.

Silver is still getting used to living in a safe and comfortable indoor environment in a brand new country. This expat girl has a great appetite and good litter box habits. She is still learning how to be careful with her claws.

In her foster home, there is a resident cat, and although she hasn’t yet been introduced to him, she does show interest when she hears him. The 4Paws website has helpful information about introducing a new cat into a household with other pets here. Silver would certainly do fine as an only pet, so she could enjoy the love exclusively.

Silver came to 4Paws from the Kabul Small Animal Rescue organization in Afghanistan. She is one of about a dozen or so that 4Paws is helping to find adoptive homes. Silver’s estimated birth date is February 2018. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, has tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and is microchipped.

Pet of the Week: Hailey

Meet Hailey, Tysons’ latest Pet of the Week. Hailey is a sweet senior who loves being around people and sitting in the sun.

Here’s what her friends at Operation Underdog WV had to say about her:

Hello from Hailey!

This charming senior girl is super sweet and submissive. She came to us from a home that had too many cats and dogs to care for, and we are currently treating her for flea allergies and skin infection.

Hailey’s starting to feel better and likes nothing more than to bask in the sunshine. She likes people and is calm and respectful but is not overly rambunctious in her interactions. She is tolerant of other pets and would make a great addition to a family with older children or as a companion to an individual who is looking to spend peaceful days with a truly special senior soul.

Hailey is about 60 pounds and 10 years of age or older.

Pet of the Week: Broccoli

Meet Broccoli, Tysons’ latest Pet of the Week. Broccoli has had a tough life, but he’s learning to trust again and is looking for a quiet home.

Here’s what Broccoli’s friends at 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about him:

Broccoli is a pretty boy who has been through a lot. You can see in his eyes that life hasn’t been so easy. He came to a shelter with an injured leg that had to be amputated but is now living in a foster home with a 4Paws volunteer. After these last few months, Broccoli now knows how good it can be living inside and being loved, and he is looking for a quiet forever home with a patient and loving adopter.

Despite his past troubles, Broccoli is learning to trust again and shows his affection in many ways. In his foster home, he follows his foster mom around, rubbing against her legs, laying down in front of her and staring at her nonstop.

To get your attention, Broccoli will make a cute little chirping noise and likes to greet you with a meow and with his head raised up, looking for head scritches. He loves to rub against everything around him, including his humans. He will roll around on the floor, showing off his tummy, as a sign of trust. He is still a bit cautious of new people, fast movements and being touched on his backside, but with a patient adopter he will continue to become more confident.

Even though Broccoli doesn’t have his left back leg, that hasn’t made him any less mobile. He can run, go up and down stairs, and get on and off the couch. He likes being able to look out windows.

Broccoli is highly motivated by wet food and will follow you around until he is fed. He has perfect litter box habits. In his foster home, he gets along with the two female cats who live there. He will do best in a home without rambunctious pets or children.

Broccoli came to 4Paws from Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter in Maryland. His estimated birth date is March 2014. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and is microchipped.

Are you and Broccoli the perfect match?

Meet Lulu, Tysons’ latest Pet of the Week. Lulu is a smiley lab/beagle mix who loves belly rubs.

Lulu’s friends at Traveling Tails Dog Rescue shared a message on her behalf:

Hi! I’m Lulu. I’m a sweet 60-pound girl who loves snuggles and belly rubs. I’m approximately 4 years old and found myself in a sad situation in a shelter in Tennessee after my family lost their home. I have a gorgeous, happy smile and love everyone I meet! I’m up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. My ideal family will be someone who will want to cuddle with me on the couch and enjoy my company. I hope to meet you soon!

Tysons’ Pet of the Week is Odelia and Oprah, a bonded mother-daughter duo.

Here’s what their friends at 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about them:

Odelia is a quiet, unassuming little tortie mama who is quite happy to watch you go about your day as she confidently observes from her napping spot. Odelia has such a loving, gentle soul. She will greet you affectionately when you get home and purrs sweetly as you give her gentle pets and ear rubs.

A nice, comfortable perch with a good view is Odelia’s favorite spot in the house. She has a healthy appetite for wet and dry food, along with perfect litter box manners. Odelia is very easy-going and will happily play with toys. She is good with other cats.

Oprah, Odelia’s daughter, is a fluffy little princess who wants all the attention! When you come home, Oprah is always happy to greet you with little chirps. She is outgoing, adventurous and full of curiosity. She has an abundance of energy and loves to play. Oprah’s favorite spot is near a window with a nice view, as she is an avid bird and squirrel watcher. This petite girl is always ready to explore!

Oprah is tidy with the litter box and enjoys both wet and dry food. She really loves her mom, but is fine with other cats, too.

Odelia and Oprah love to snuggle and play and have a tight mother-daughter bond, so they must be adopted together.

Odelia and Oprah came to 4Paws from Wise County Humane Society in southwestern Virginia. Odelia’s estimated birthdate is January 2017 and Oprah’s is July 2019. They have both been spayed, are current on vaccinations, have tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and are microchipped.

Are Odelia and Oprah your perfect match?

Pet of the Week: Beau

Tysons’ Pet of the Week is Beau, an energetic pup who loves hiking and playing fetch but also cuddling up on the couch.

Here’s what his friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation have to say about him:

Beau is a 1-year-old Aussie-mix, who had a bit of a rough start to his life and is ready for his loving forever home!

While initially skeptical of some people, Beau opens up quickly over a game of fetch and shows his goofy, playful self. You’re sure to win him over if you can throw the tennis ball for hours! If you’re looking for a high-energy dog to play with and take on hikes that also likes to cuddle with you, this is the one. Beau loves to run and play with you and/or other dogs for hours, but at the end (or the middle) of the day, there’s nothing he wants more than to curl up and cuddle with you!

Beau gets along wonderfully with his foster brother and would be happy to play all day with a resident dog or be your one and only that gets all the love and attention. Beau is looking for an active, adults-only home with a fenced yard and dog experience. He is great with other friendly, playful dogs, but he doesn’t like those pesky smaller creatures like cats or bunnies!

If you’re looking for a smart, active pup that learns quickly and knows basic commands, is house-trained and loves to play (with humans and canines), then Beau would like you to apply to be his best friend!

Are you and Beau the perfect match?
