Meet Petey, a timid terrier still learning how to run, play and enjoy doggie life after losing his owner to COVID-19.
Here’s what Petey’s friends at Worthy Dog Rescue had to say about him:
Meet Petey! This adorable little scruffy with the pretty blue eyes recently lost his owner to COVID-19. A family member took him in, along with five other pups, and none of the dogs were spayed or neutered or had any vet care. Unable to accommodate all six dogs at once, the family built an outdoor pen to keep the dogs until they could find a solution. They reached out to rescue, and Worthy Dog took in Petey and three other dogs. The family kept the older two dogs, and they are now living indoors.
Even though Petey came from a home, the dogs lived reclusively and didn’t have much exposure to the outside world. They came into rescue filthy with goopy eyes, ear infections and a few had a cough, but after proper vet care and a few weeks to recuperate, they are all doing well. Petey is still timid outside the home and is startled by sudden noises and movement. He has a moderate energy level and loves the companionship of other dogs. We think Petey would do best with another social, confident pup in the home and needs to live in more quiet community. He’s not the best fit for city or condo life.
We checked in with Petey’s foster mom for an update:
‘Petey is such a good little guy. He’s mostly housebroken and crate-trained. He knows to go potty outside, but doesn’t bark to let you know. If you watch him, you can tell when he needs to go. He has become more attached to mom because she is home all day with him. He is still timid and shakes from fear when we have company. He has been playful with mom, but prefers a leather coaster over most toys. He is not a snuggle bug yet, but when he wants loving and belly rubs he comes for them. He’s timid when he’s outside and reacts to noises and movements. I believe he needs another confident dog to show him how to be a dog. When I make him go outside he does pretty well on leash. I mostly walk him in the backyard where he can’t see anything but the woods. When something scares him, he runs back to the door to get in. He is already improving and just needs time. I have yet to hear him bark or make any kind of noise for that matter.’

Meet Dusty, a handsome, gentle boy who doesn’t let his arthritis stop him from playing all day and zooming down the stairs.
Here’s what Dusty’s friends at 4Paws Rescue Team had to say about him:
Dusty is a handsome, Seal-Point Siamese boy who came to 4Paws after being surrendered to a shelter in southwestern Virginia, already declawed.
Dusty is a very affectionate boy, but he does prefer not being picked up. He really loves being brushed, and his super-soft fur is very enticing.
Dusty is also good with other cats and loves to engage with them. He enjoys running up and down stairs, often flying like superman down the last four. He is a curious fellow who likes to meet new people.
This gentle, playful and chatty young fellow would love to find a new home, where he can enjoy the good life. This sweet boy deserves a loving and patient adopter who will help him thrive.
Dusty has arthritis in his hips, so it’s important that he has a litter box with high sides because he doesn’t squat easily. Puppy pads will also help him if he sometimes “misses the target” of the litter box, which can be an unintended result of the trauma of declawing. Joint supplements help Dusty manage his arthritis and his physical condition has improved quite a bit since he has been in foster care with 4Paws.
Please email us at [email protected] if you’re interested in Dusty.
Could Dusty be the newest edition to your family?

Meet Sally Jane, a boardwalk babe who loves to spend her time splashing in the water. Move over, Torri Huske!
Here’s what Sally Jane’s friends at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation had to say about her:
Sally Jane is a sweet, playful puppy! She is a rambunctious and adventurous girl who loves to play hard and sleep hard. She will keep you on your toes, but also never want to leave your side.
She is a true lab mix and LOVES the water. Drinking water, eating ice cubes, playing in her doggie pool and running through sprinklers are a few of her favorite things. Also, in true Labrador fashion, she is a naturally skilled retriever, so you will have a friend to play fetch with for life!
Sally Jane has successfully lived with other dogs but is still working on her food guarding manners. She would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner. She has played well with other dogs both her size and smaller. Sally Jane has also previously lived in a home with cats and done well with them!
Sally Jane’s leash skills are coming along great, and she is very smart and food-driven so continue training. She knows her name and “sit” already and is working on “down.”
Sally Jane sleeps in her crate overnight without having any potty accidents. She will also sit politely at the door during the day to tell you when she needs to go to the bathroom.
This cuddly girl would love a large yard to run around in to support her energy needs and would like a semi-quiet area as she continues to adjust to her new life.
Sally Jane is ready to bring a lifetime of happiness to her forever family! Interested in her? Email [email protected] to start the adoption process!
Is Sally Jane the perfect match for you?
