McLean is featured in this column frequently. It’s a great city located just minutes from D.C., Arlington and Tysons Corner.

McLean is most well-known for its opulent and luxurious homes and their powerful owners. It’s also home to many large companies and government agencies such as Capital One, Booz Allen Hamilton, Freddie Mac, Central Intelligence Agency, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Just around the corner is Turkey Run Park which is a favorite for hiking or just enjoying the view of the Potomac.

McLean features so many great employment opportunities as well as proximity to shopping and activities that it’s no surprise it’s one of the most sought after places to live in the area. McLean is more than just large homes and affluent residents and today’s featured home shows the more historic side of the city.

This 1941 brick colonial is in Chesterbrook Woods on a large corner lot. If you are looking for a home with charm, this is it. Old world charm with a new world kitchen! This beautiful home features solid brick construction, a slate roof, copper gutters and a flagstone patio perfect for enjoying a beautiful fall day.

Vienna is one of the most popular locations in our area and is frequently featured as one of the best towns to live in on many lists.

Vienna has a small-town charm that has outlasted the growth of the D.C. area and Tysons Corner. The W&OD Trail runs through Vienna making it a cute place to walk around or just head out for a run or bike. It’s the kind of place where people still stop to say hello and often a visit to the Giant grocery store turns into an hour of socializing with your neighbors. Vienna is also home to many beautiful houses and is a great place to buy or build your dream home.

This beautiful home features 8,200 square feet of living space on nearly an acre of land! The gourmet kitchen is unforgettable and upgrades are numerable. The grand bath in the master suite features heated floors, Carerra Gold Marble and Rohl fixures. The newly added 5th bedroom above the garage is perfect for that extra guest space.

This week felt like another good time to feature a home that is opulent and extravagant.

McLean is home to many luxurious and extravagant homes. There are certain streets that are well known for being home to some of this area’s most powerful people. Ballantrae Lane has been featured in this article in the past. Today, I’m featuring Benjamin Street. Benjamin is a street in Langley Forest, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the D.C. area.

Langley Forest is situated just along the Potomac River and minutes from both Tysons Corner and Washington, D.C. It features the who’s who of the area and is one of the top neighborhoods to buy in if you are looking for prestige.

This beautiful home has 12,000 square feet on nearly 1 acre of land. The grand marble foyer and floating staircase make this a wow house from the moment you walk in. My favorite feature of this home is the dramatic water fountain in the courthouse. This home exudes magnificence  before you even walk in.

Just reduced in price by nearly $400,000, this home is certainly the most jaw dropping of the homes reduced in price this week. Check out some of the other price reductions below, this week features some big ones!

To see this beautiful home or any others, you can schedule an appointment by emailing or calling me at [email protected] or 571-263-0206.

This week I am featuring a new build home in Pimmit Hills.

Pimmit Hills is a neighborhood in Tysons Corner that has seen many tear downs and rebuilds, a hallmark of the Tysons Corner area in general. Pimmit Hills was originally developed in the 1950s and consisted of rambler style homes sold to returning WWII and Korean War veterans using their VA loans. The neighborhood is now home to many new build houses. The benefit of buying a new build home in Pimmit Hills is the cost.

The neighborhood is still close to Tysons Corner but home prices are significantly less than neighboring McLean, East Falls Church and Vienna. New build homes in the low $1 million range is becoming more and more impossible in many Tysons Corner neighborhoods but can be found in Pimmit Hills. The neighborhood has a great location in Tysons Corner and is convenient to Washington, D.C.

If you are looking for a very large home but don’t have a budget over $2 million, Pimmit Hills is a great neighborhood to look in. This week’s feature has nearly 7,000 square feet on 3 levels and features a 3 car garage, spacious bedrooms, a 2 level foyer and a large master suite.

To see this beautiful home or any others, you can schedule an appointment by emailing or calling me.

This week we say good-bye to summer and officially begin fall with the autumnal equinox.

As you get ready for pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween and apple-picking trips, don’t forget to check out some great homes in the Tysons Corner area. We’re seeing more inventory and hopefully this will give buyers at least a little more choice than they’ve had previously this year. September has seen a lot of great homes come on market. These homes range from a studio apartment in Falls Church for $150,000 to a stately home in McLean for $1,875,000.

This week’s featured home is a modern home in Vienna. This newly built home features a stunning floating staircase and bathrooms designed with Duravit and Grohe products.

To see this beautiful modern home, you can schedule an appointment by emailing or calling me.

It’s a new week and everyone is talking about ‘Career Day’ at Amazon’s new Crystal City location.

I’ve spoken to everyone from government workers to IT professionals to new college graduates who are excited to show up at Amazon’s new headquarters on Tuesday, September 17 to check out what departments will be hiring and what skill sets will be needed. According to an article in the Washington Post on Sunday, the company will not be hiring on the spot but is seeking to fill 400 vacancies by the end of the year.

Amazon HQ2 has dominated the conversation in our area since the first whispers about its possible location in the D.C. area. It’s also affected the real estate market trends. Arlington and Alexandria were named the two most competitive markets in the country by Redfin. If you have purchased a home in one of these areas this year or have been in the market, you know how difficult finding a home can be. Tysons is still close to Amazon HQ2 and this week’s feature is a great home close to the new headquarters.

This executive-style townhome has views of the Potomac and a location rich in history. The land was originally part of the Merrywood Estate where Jackie Kennedy spent many years of her childhood. This beautiful home features an elevator, wetbar and an indoor spa room. This home has all of the convenience of Arlington with a great price and spectacular views.

I hope everyone had an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall-like weather we’ve enjoyed.

We’re returning to temperatures in the 90s this week so I’ll do my best to remember how great that breeze felt this weekend. The summer has come to an end but it was a very busy summer. Sales in July were up from last year by nearly 10% and median days on market were down by over 50%. If you were having trouble securing a home in Fairfax County this summer, so were many buyers. Prices are up from this time last year also but not in every neighborhood.

Vienna prices are rising while Oakton and McLean are staying steady. I’ve lost more than a few contracts to an all cash buyer this year and the statistics reflect that fact. 10% of all transactions in Fairfax County so far this year have been all cash. This year has also been about moving fast. Almost 40% of homes sold this year have sold in 10 days or less. The fall market is already heating up so it still looks like a good time to sell.

This week’s feature home is on a very large lot (.69 acre!) in Vienna. This craftsman home features tons of upgrades, a wine room and a private suite above the garage. This beautiful home has just been reduced in price $100,000.

120 Kingsley Road SW Vienna (Reduced $100,000)

Goodbye summer! Summer of 2019 really ended in such a beautiful way with weather so gorgeous I momentarily thought I was in California.

The market really slowed down in the last weeks of summer and as a result, we have a lot of recently reduced properties. I’m expecting a lot of new listings to come on this week so if you decided to step out of the real estate market this year because it was just too competitive, this is a good time to step back in and give buying a home a chance.

This week’s feature home is in Great Falls. Great Falls is a great place to find a lot of space, a lot of land, a lot of wow factor and a great price. I’ve featured quite a few wow homes in Great Falls and this one is no different. It has an amazing pool and cabana and is perfect for having a bit of privacy while still being close to amenities. Recently reduced $75,000, this one is worth seeing!

It’s a slow week in real estate with school starting and the Labor Day weekend just around the corner.

This is a great time to enjoy the last week of the pools being open or take one last trip to the beach before we settle in to fall. There are still a few great homes to see before the weekend. Today’s feature is an Evergreene home in Vienna. I am often asked about Evergreene build homes in Vienna because while the small business custom home builders are building bigger and bigger, Evergreene still puts out a great home with a bit smaller footprint.

Vienna is seeing a surge of homes over 6,000 sq. ft. In some areas, homes over 10,000 sq. ft. are being built with buyers already lined up or even being built by the owner of a lot. Evergreene still builds homes below 4,000 sq. ft. above grade allowing them to sell homes at a lower price.

102 Sharon Lane NW is walkable to downtown Vienna and move in ready for anyone looking for a new build home in Vienna that feels cozy.

It’s been quite a busy year but the market finally appears to be slowing just a bit.

Teachers are hard at work getting ready for the school year to begin and Fairfax County schools will officially start back next week. This means that sellers are getting serious before the holiday season is upon us and the market slows to a crawl. This week’s featured home is a wow home for sure. Who needs to leave home when you have a 5,000 bottle wine cellar, a gym, a bar, a recreation room and a backyard to die for.

This home in Great Falls is a stunner and is now reduced in price by nearly a half million dollars. Enjoy peace and tranquility next to your koi pond and truly get away from the hustle and bustle.
